True Stories About Domestic Violence

The Australian Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria hosts a set of written stories organized by different themes: stories from women, women in lesbian relationships, women with disabilities, young people, and men. Many of these written testimonials follow a similar structure, first describing experiences, then “How I coped,” “How the situation changed,” “What helped me,” and “What I would say to others.” The young people’s stories are linked out to a separate campaign, Love: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

1 in 3

The 1 in 3 campaign takes its name from the statistic that 1 in 3 women will have an abortion during their lifetime. It collects written and video testimonials by women who have had abortions, and describes its rationale as so: “By encouraging women who have had abortions to end their silence, share their stories, and start a new and more personal conversation about abortion in our society, the 1 in 3 Campaign will help create a more enabling cultural environment for the policy and legal work of the abortion rights movement.” The campaign is a project of Advocates for Youth, an organization focused on reproductive and sexual health for young people in the US and globally. The written stories are aggregated into a book.

The stories can be accessed through both the Mormon video channel and through a Searchable Archive of Mormon Testimonials of Mormon testimonials.
